While Rangers outlets have maintained there will be no imminent signing business either incoming or outgoing, that hasn’t stopped the scouts continuing their work and the ongoing pursuit of Motherwell’s Lennon Miller has seen Rangers watching the 17-year-old Fir Park standout.

The record the boy has over a month before he turns 18 is remarkable – despite Motherwell’s poor season and failure to make the top 6, Miller shone considerably, and can very much label 23/24 his break out season.

At 18 to already have 16 youth caps for his country including several at U19 level shows the esteem the lad is held in by the national team as well as his club, and Rangers are very interested in potentially taking him to Govan.

To have 37 senior appearances before his 18th birthday is extremely impressive and his market value is already approaching £2M – Motherwell are unlikely to make that given he’s out of contract next summer – just 12 months left.

Rangers will be well aware that, like fellow target Lawrence Shankland, Miller can be secured for a modest fee – the selling club having very little bargaining power in this case.

The question is whether the midfielder wants to make the move to Rangers – the competition for places will be fierce and Rangers have already added Aberdeen’s former star midfielder already in there in Connor Barron.

It’s already Rangers’ most strongly-featured area of the pitch, and of course Miller would not add experience which Rangers need in there quite badly.

We’ll see if Rangers’ interest in here steps up over the coming while…
