Rangers are now very unlikely to let Cyriel Dessers go after it became apparent the Belgian is the club’s only fit and ready striker available to Philippe Clement.

With the confirmation Hamza Igamane is some weeks or even months away from being ready for life at Rangers, coupled with Danilo still not being ready yet for opposed football on any level, the Belgian now becomes the only viable option, with uncertainly over Zak Lovelace and his favour with Clement.

That really isn’t a good state for Rangers’ firepower to be in, and it only takes one knock to Dessers (or his departure) and Rangers have absolutely no striker at all.

Ibrox Noise has taken some criticism lately for ‘negativity’ but it’s hard to bring you positive news without it sounding like just brainwashed propaganda.

We’re aware the club content coming out of Holland is trying to be upbeat, and in fairness there’s a good mood in the camp it seems, but in the harsh reality of football, it isn’t a great squad and it’s hard to spin a positive on Dessers being the only striker fit.

Rangers do still have 3 weeks till the Champions League third rounds are upon us, so there is time to do things, and we’ll have a clarification on the signing policy amid an update to our earlier report on that.

But in the here and now?

It’s not terribly reassuring for Clement that he will have only Dessers to count on up top.
