Rangers’ 24/25 preseason was absolutely abysmal
Leon's face says it all.

Ibrox Noise has not been covering the friendlies in the same way we would Rangers’ normal competitive fixtures. No player ratings for one.

But we have been offering a more ‘digested’ analysis in the 24-48 hours after the ‘latest’ preseason friendly and it’s abundantly clear that if Rangers can’t even draw with a League One Birmingham or a very very weak Union Berlin (4th bottom last season) we’re nowhere near ready to face an ‘at it’ Hearts who will be champing at the bit to get 3 points at home.

Rangers have been cataclysmically bad this summer, totalling back into competitive football when the club lost two of its final four fixtures, winning just one, v the cannon fodder of Dundee, the lowest-placed top 6 team.

There’s no getting away that this was the worst preseason Rangers as a club have ever had. One useless draw in a fitness bounce match v Liege, and the rest were all disjointed horrible defeats.

‘It’s not about the results, they’re friendlies’; absolutely.

But never in living memory has an SPL Rangers been this utterly despondently poor in performances in preseason with so many players completely disinterested and disjointed.

We, naturally, cannot take these matches terribly seriously, and this is the time to make the silly errors and try things. Totally support that.

But what the ‘manager’ (and we use that term loosely now) Philippe Clement is doing is just the same nonsense that didn’t work from March onwards.

The players look absolutely bored, jaded and flat, and that Scott Wright was overall our best player in preseason says pretty much everything.

Nothing has changed, and watching the absolutely hideous Jefte stumble over his own feet and hack anything that moves really was absurd. He wasn’t even good enough for a Cypriot side, yet now starts for Rangers?

It’s the new order at Rangers – using Hearts or Killie-level players but mismanaging them so even these smaller sides look superior to us.

We faced Berlin and, sure, we got 3 goals, but we shipped 4.

Defence didn’t care.

The big giveaway? Do you ever remember pre-2012 Rangers fans ever saying ‘it’s only preseason ffs’?

No, because we were far better managed and won the majority of the matches – we didn’t have to defend the nonsense in that way. In 2007 preseason, Walter, 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss – Ajax, Falkik, Chelsea and Hannover. And the only loss was to the Germans.

We went onto our legendary Manchester season that campaign.

These days?

Many of our fans come out with the ‘judge him on his own team ffs’ nonsense despite our ex managers doing so much better with previous managers’ teams. It’s the new way to defend poor management by shifting the goalposts by blaming previous managers.

It’s just justifying second rate managers, albeit we do acknowledge our squad is also dreadfully poor these days.

But 7 signings ‘are Clement’s’ and only two or three of them are actually Rangers level this summer.

‘Judge him on his own team ffs’? We are, and it stinks. Dio, Silva, Cortes, Kelly, Jefte, Nsiala, Barron, Igamane, Cerny…

We are not ready for Hearts, we are not ready for the new season, and we have the wrong manager as well as the wrong players.

Great stuff.

But ‘just support the team and manager ffs’….
