Rangers fans have been warned by multiple unofficial/official Ibrox sources that no business is on the horizon for Rangers, with a number of fan media outlets confirming that no sales or purchases are imminent.
In a troubling development given how drastically poor Rangers’ squad currently is, it has been affirmed that Cagliari are not as close to signing Cyriel Dessers as had been previously thought, and the sale of Robby McCrorie to Kilmarnock for a modest fee (around £250,000) represents the only piece of business being carried out for the foreseeable future.
It’s disquieting – as Ibrox Noise has reported several times, the club must sell before it can buy – while the ‘budget’ was set out as being £25M (with £9M already spent), it depended on large sales and incoming to facilitate it.
That simply hasn’t happened this summer, with nothing but released players and, now, one modest sale.
As such, both the Rangers Review and 4lads have confirmed there will be no imminent business in either direction for the foreseeable future in a grim update for Rangers fans hoping to see some good additions or sales.
Already this looks like a basket case of a summer window, with a few modest additions, the big outlay on Mohamed Diomande, but nothing game-changing.
And now we’re being told the kitty is basically empty with nothing else being able to happen unless we can sell, and that in itself will be a problem with no sales imminent.
Any Rangers supporter hoping for some big shiny signings in the next two weeks could be in for painful disappointment and as things stand, Rangers are closer to battling for second with Hearts or Kilmarnock than actually closing the gap on Celtic.
Very deflating news.
