With Kosovo striker Albion Rrahmani more or less rejecting Rangers either to remain in Romania or secure a top five league, Rangers go back to the drawing board with regards a new striker.

Sure, there’s new boy Hamza Igamane, but unfortunately he’s a completely unknown quantity as yet and hasn’t even joined up with the squad – it’s understood he won’t hook up till later this month.

Danilo is still injured, not yet ready for opposed football, while Cyriel Dessers isn’t really regarded as a viable overall solution, regardless of any future sale.

Which of course rears the infamous Lawrence Shankland name again, but unfortunately from what we’ve seen, Shankland isn’t interesting Rangers or Philippe Clement at all.

David Edgar of Heart and Hand has gone publicly on the record to confirm that the manager really isn’t that bothered about the Scotland striker, saying:

“That (a move for Shankland) really depends on the manager who’s never given the impression he’s that keen on him.”

Now whether that’s Edgar saying the impression is to himself, or internally within the club we can’t be sure, but it’s a damning comment about a striker many Rangers fans believe is born to join the club.

Ibrox Noise ran a poll some weeks ago in a choice between Hearts’ captain and Aberdeen star Bojan Miovski, and it was overwhelming in favour of the Pittodrie man, not the boyhood Rangers fan.

And what Edgar says seems to suggest Clement has about as much desire to sign Shankland as the fans do.

Of course, there’s tonnes of noise about the hitman, but the proof is usually not ‘in the comments’ but in the hard numbers, and the polls tell a different story than ‘the comments section’ does.

But it doesn’t matter anyway – going by Edgar’s comments, Shankland won’t be coming to Rangers.

Mind you, as things stand, neither is anyone else.
