Jack Butland and those £30M Rangers rumours…

We had to laugh today at Football Insider claiming ‘exclusive sources’ have told them that Rangers have put a £30M price tag on goalkeeper Jack Butland:

Days after Philippe Clement said that in public…

Yes, according to the exclusive piffle coming from Clickbait insider, they’ve received inside source news that Rangers have put a massive price tag on the star goalie, but of course, given Clement already hinted that he’d expect £30M-£40M for Butland, whether tongue was in cheek or not, it really was a non-story.

Of course it could be argued this Ibrox Noise take on the whole thing is as much a non-story in itself, but regulars know we’re in this for the good of the club, in Rangers’ best interests. Always was the case even before we grew and had to bring in revenue to keep the lights on.

As for Butland? He’s the club’s most valued asset for sure, and Clement’s comments, while strange, sum it up:

“I don’t speak now about Connor and Tav, it is just in general, all over the world it doesn’t work that way. You always need to be with two parties. Every player falls into that category. Only Jack [does not]. If somebody comes with £30million or £40million you can replace him (Jack) for that money. Every player falls into that category. We need money to replace him. If it is a good amount you can replace him and do something else. We will see.”

Then a few days like Insider splashes an ‘exclusive’ that Rangers want £30M for Butland.

As Clement says, every player has his price, Butland or not. But the idea that ‘sources’ said this to Insider is a bit potty quite honestly.

Maybe they just read Ibrox Noise?
