Connor Goldson departs Rangers as fee gets confirmed
Goldson speaking on Talking Transitions Podcast...

As we all know Connor Goldson’s move to Aris Limassol is now official, the man himself now penning a heartfelt goodbye (with more than a speck of arrogance and a dig at Todd Cantwell while he was at it) and we no longer have to watch him ducking balls in Rangers’ defence.

We will never see this guy letting the club down again, which is something for which we are immeasurably thankful on Ibrox Noise at least.

But the question being asked by many fans is about the fee, and Ibrox Noise can confirm, again, it is indeed £2.5M.

It’s an initial £1.5M up front, and £1M in addons, addons which he will easily attain via appearances and bonuses, so the final fee will be the full £2.5M and that should be secured before too long.

The fee was not that nonsense number of recent days claiming it would only be £500,000, which was in fact the ‘loss’ Rangers made on what we paid (£3M) for the defender.

We made a very decent chunk of change on a past-it defender who never really had it in the first place, and we have to say the board and Nils Koppen did very well to negotiate a decent fee for a 31-year-old washed-up stopper.

We’ll know a tonne of fans are praising him for his heartfelt comments on Insta, the same one slaughtering John Bennett for his heartfelt comments in a full interview, but one thing we know is our fans are hardly overly consistent these days.

Either way, the fee is in, Rangers got an overall £2.5M for Goldson, and that as well as the freed £38,000 makes a big difference to this transfer window.

Let’s use that stuff wisely and quickly.

Scott McKenna anyone?
