Rangers manager Philippe Clement has confirmed Rangers spent £2.5M this window on a project player in Hamza Igamane and he will not be anywhere near the first team for the foreseeable future.
After some hype about his being the big new striker arrival, sort of, Clement has revealed that’s false, and he’s both unfit to play, and nowhere near emotionally or physically ready.
He said:
“We have some players who have come in who are longer term, like Clinton Nsiala. He has a lot of talent, but he needs the experience and he needs to learn a lot of things. I don’t expect him to be a starting player. The same with Hamza Igamane. He will not be ready to start. He’s never trained or played physically at this level. He comes out of a holiday too, so we need to build him up.”
If Rangers fans, any Rangers fans thought Igamane was going to be straight into the first team, not the case; the club will not be using him as a senior starter for a long time, meaning we’ve spent £2.5M on a player we can’t actually use.
Not really the best news for Rangers supporters, but added to the litany of garbage coming out of this club in the past 4 months, it’s not even that big a shock.
We can remove Igamane from Rangers’ striker choices going into the new season, it’s currently down to just one fit man, Cyriel Dessers, because Danilo still isn’t ready.
Great stuff.
