As we all knew and Ibrox Noise reported to you repeatedly, Todd Cantwell has indeed requested a transfer and will leave imminently when a buyer is found.
In a very different approach, the manager is being exceptionally transparent this evening about the players who have requested to leave, or who are leaving, having already confirmed earlier that defender Connor Goldson will depart before long, having returned to Cyprus to complete his move to Aris Limassol.
Cantwell, on the other hand, hasn’t been injured at all this preseason, that was a compete lie from the manager, he was covering the situation while Cantwell trained with the B team, due to his express desire to leave.
Clement said:
“Todd Cantwell has asked to leave the club. I spoke to him further and he then came back to me with the same request. He will remain training with the B team until he leaves.”
This is what Ibrox Noise reported some months ago, that Cantwell had decided he wanted to leave – and Clement spoke with him further and the playmaker dug his heels in.
Truth is he can’t stand the manager, and the manager can’t stand him – and that began funnily enough against the side Connor Goldson is in the process of joining, Aris Limassol.
Clement’s horrendous management that night of blaming Cantwell for Rangers’ dire first half and withdrawing the attacker early as a scapegoat was pretty shocking man-management, and Cantwell decided at that point he wanted away from this boss.
This is not to defend the ex-Norwich man, he was diabolical since last preseason under Michael Beale as well, barely showing 10% of the quality this season he had last year when he initially joined.
But Clement has now effectively admitted these two have completely fallen out, and Cantwell like Sam Lammers will remain with the B side till he’s transferred out.
The overhaul continues.
