Rangers fans have overwhelming made a decision on Ibrox captain James Tavernier, after over 3,000 voted on whether the current incumbent should remain so, whether or not he stays.

In light of the ‘done like a kipper’ story recently which had Jack Butland as new Rangers captain ‘no matter what’ (this was false), Ibrox Noise did want to know exactly how the fans feel now about the current skipper and if it really was time for a new one.

We suggested that regardless of whether Tav stays or goes, what was your view? Did you want him to step aside from the responsibility, or did you want him to retain the armband.

In an Ibrox Noise poll, a staggering 92% of Rangers fans asked wanted Tavernier to step down from the role, with only 8% wishing that he remained with the leadership.

This was regardless of whether or not he leaves, and while we’ve defended our polls a few times before based on accuracy and sample representation, regulars know they’re rarely far from accurate as representation of the wider fanbase.

And it seems that the absolute lions’ share of supporters would like to see a new captain next term.

Does Ibrox Noise agree?

Yes, yes we do. But we never agreed with Tavernier being given it in the first place, so we’ve been fairly consistent on that one.
