Rangers are to confirm a double weekend swoop of Hamza Igamane and Yusuf Kabadayi after the £2.5M duo flew into the UK to complete their Rangers deals, following some tense negotiations.

The Igamane deal, around £1.5M for the Moroccan striker, is a slightly unknown quantity, the level he’s shone at being such a low one, with Moroccan football not really quite viewed as being the Premier League, but the deal is done.

As for Kabadayi, that one saw many many twists and turns, with Rangers closing in, then Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce making a move, before Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Besiktas tried to get in on the act, and now Rangers appear to have sealed the deal and the German attacker will become Rangers’ latest summer signing.

We can’t say that a guy who was modest for a second division Bundesliga team and who has never played a senior top flight match of football in his life quite screams at us as being a Celtic-killer, but the management are going for this trade model, and are determined to continue on this path.

As for Igamane, another questionable one – he’s a centre-forward who shone but in Moroccan football, hardly the Champions League.

It’s around £2.5M for the pair, and added to Jefte at £750,000 and Nsiala (free) as well as £350,000 development fee for Connor Barron brings Rangers’ summer spending to around £3.5M.

Definitely not the numbers we were hoping we’d have, and while it’s early days, we really hope the serious spending on AAA players starts soon.

But, of course we welcome all the new recruits and Philippe Clement can start to be judged on all this.

Can’t say it’s overly inspiring yet however.
