Rangers are reportedly today making a serious move for Excelsior’s Moroccan winger Couhaib Driouech after the Dutch-born attacker shone in a very strong season in the Eredivisie with 16 goals and assists in 33 appearance, earning him suitors including the Famous, and Dutch champions Feyenoord.

The 22-year-old left winger, also interesting Ligue 1 cracks Lens, is known to be as adept on either wing, although he’s more of a right-footed attacker, much like Oscar Cortes is adaptable too but is primarily a leftie.

Could Driouech be viewed as a complimentary winger on the other side for Cortes?

It does call into major doubt the move for Germany’s Yusif Kabadayi, with that trail going suddenly very cold, as Ibrox Noise reported only earlier today, with that particular target underwhelming as it was.

But the Moroccan, an U23 international for his country, is of much better stock.

He’s contracted to 2025 so going into the final year of his deal, and with a market value of around £5M he wouldn’t cost that full amount – Rangers would hope to get him for no more than around £2M.

Is this the quality Rangers need?

Much more like it than Kabadayi, we don’t deny it.

But this is a breaking story so we’ll see if it develops.
