Rangers have improved their offer to Connor Barron following the initial contract Ibrox Noise reported to you around a month ago, as the Aberdeen midfielder weighs up his options, with a number of offers received for the 21-year-old.

His preference is understood to be Rangers, but this is a very big move and a huge decision for the Scotland youth international so he’s been taking his time over his chosen preference.

In order to further ‘persuade’ him Rangers have improved the terms offered to him as of a few days ago, significantly increasingly the likelihood of his agreeing to join the club, albeit of course he’s a free agent now and not answerable to Aberdeen in any way.

Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen really want the boy, but won’t be held to ransom on the contract – Barron has suitors in England and Italy, with Bologna, Sassuolo and Cagliari said to be looking at him, while Swansea of the Championship in England are also interested.

Swansea were reported today by Welsh sources as being priced out of the deal, the bottom line being Barron wants Rangers but also wants a good salary.

Rangers have now offered that salary and the deal is closer than ever before.

It all depends on him making the decision.
