Following up on our earlier piece about John Lundstram’s exit from Rangers Ibrox Noise polled fans to see which of the exiting five players, as confirmed yesterday, they’d have kept.

We also offered the option of ‘none’.

The results were not surprising at all, and we will take you through them.

In fifth, miles bottom with 0% of the vote, but shockingly, still with 20 votes, was Jon McLaughlin.

In fourth, miles away as well, was Borna Barisic, with 3% of the vote.

And in third place? Kemar Roofe, a paltry 5% of the vote.

But in second? A solid 20% of 3500 votes and counting is Ryan Jack.

And the runaway winner with 34% of that vote with 1138 votes was John Lundstram.

He was, however, himself beaten by 1218 (38%) votes saying ‘none of them’.

Very interesting numbers there.

Conclusions?

Few Rangers fans will really miss Jon McLaughlin, Kemar Roofe or Borna Barisic. There are a lot of obvious reasons, and a few of them, especially Borna, have some strong ardent fans in our support, but overall, they’re ‘thanks for your service and good wishes’.

Jacko is where it gets more sentimental. We couldn’t keep him, he was permanently broken and couldn’t play any more, not in the position we had him for (6) and he offered little as an AM playmaker that we ended up trying him in. Just doesn’t have the legs for being a DM any more, and can’t create much as an AM. As well as being injured all the time. But fans still love him, including ourselves. But we can’t just keep a player who is a busted flush.

And then Lunny, who we’ve covered earlier.

But the biggest conclusion? The biggest number was indeed for ‘none of them’.

Fans generally recognise a clear out was critically needed, and while there’s sentiment for particular individuals of those five, at least four of them were completely redundant and all were a drain on the wage bill.

Lunny is the one exception, that had a deal been agreed quickly no Rangers fan would have complained. That all changed with time though.

As it is, they are all gone, and it’s a much needed speck of spring cleaning, as we go into Summer.

We wish all five well, even McLaughlin.
