Rangers left back Ridvan YIlmaz...

It has become clear that the Turkish press are desperately either trying to get Rangers left back Ridvan Yilmaz away from Rangers, back home, or are using him for clicks (maybe all three) after three separate sources were forced to confirm the former Besiktas defender has no intention of leaving Ibrox under any circumstances.

The 23-year-old, who didn’t make Vincenzo Montella’s Turkey squad for Euro 2024, has been heavily linked with a move away from Rangers ever since 2022 when he didn’t immediately supplant previous Ibrox regular Borna Barisic from the LB slot.

Things, of course, have changed – the Croat has left, and now Yilmaz is affirmed first choice, as he slowly regains full match fitness following an injury which slightly derailed the end of his (and Rangers) season.

But it hasn’t stopped Turkish press (and others) claiming his imminent exit, which has forced the hand of three separate sources to confirm he isn’t going anywhere.

Firstly, his agent:

“Rıdvan’s career plan is to continue in Europe (with Rangers). There are no plans to return to the Super Lig in the near to medium term.”

Secondly Rangers:

No direct quotes of course, but club insiders have confirmed the board and Philippe Clement have no intention of selling the LB unless for a crazy price. He’s viewed as a critical asset going forward.

And lastly, tellingly, the player himself:

“I am very happy at Rangers right now and there is no thought about any future transfer for me. I am enjoying my break with my family here and I will return to Scotland in time for the pre-season training camp soon.”

The horse, the rider, and the horse’s mouth have all confirmed the same, that any stories of his desire to exit or his impending departure from Rangers are absolute fiction.

Of course, if a £10M comes in, maybe the club will consider it, but he’s not seen as anything other than a big cog next season.

He’s going nowhere.
