The Rangers Review, who are something of an unofficial official Rangers outlet, have announced today that they ‘expect’ James Tavernier and Connor Goldson to leave Rangers this summer, confirming that the long-serving duo are part of a group at Ibrox deemed effectively surplus and ready to move on.
Speaking on their transfer blog, Chris Jack and Derek Clarkson debated the latest from Govan and confirmed, mutually, that the captain and vice captain’s Rangers races have been run, as Ibrox Noise suggested some time ago, and they were deemed players the club is seeking to move on.
They did, however, suggest they’re not yet aware of any bids received for either players, despite earlier reports from the Gallant Few that James Tavernier has already agreed terms and Ibrox Noise’s own information of a bid of around £8M for both Tav and Goldson.
Regardless of whether the bids are in, Steven Gerrard (for one) is interested in the pair and Rangers have essentially authorised both Clarkson and Jack to confirm Tav and Goldson are expendable and the club seeks to profit on them this summer.
The simple fact of Rangers Review is they are, like a select group of Rangers outlets, direct sources of the club – a way to make official announcements unofficially, especially ones on speculation.
And the group wouldn’t make this statement if Rangers weren’t endorsing it – meaning the chances of Tav and Goldson remaining at Rangers are almost zero.
The question is where will they go and how close are bids to being accepted?
Well, our info, as we said, was Gerrard’s big bid had been agreed and it was down to the players.
Well, if Gallant Few’s info is right, Tav has already said yes.
It’s down to Goldson now to complete the set, we guess.
