We’re talking a lot these days about Rangers captain James Tavernier, so Ibrox Noise decided to put it all in one place as much as possible and try to sum up what we know for sure, while chucking in the odd rumour we’ve heard on the grapevine too.

Here’s your bite-size guide to ‘what is going on with James Tavernier’…

It all began with Tavernier receiving an offer, purportedly from Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq, some weeks ago. That offer is in. There is disagreement about whether Rangers have received an offer as a fee, but Tavernier did loosely agree on the terms he was given.

Our understanding is Rangers did get an offer from Saudi Arabia, to the tune of £8M for Tav and team mate Connor Goldson.

Tavernier himself then posted a highlights reel of the season gone, just like John Lundstram did, and just like Lunny he blocked off or limited comments, and also like Lunny, he inexplicably used content from the Celtic matches as well.

This didn’t exactly bode well.

There are further ‘rumours’ (unsubstantiated) that he has not enrolled his kids for school next season and has taken them out of Rangers’ Academy as well, but we can’t verify that one at all – take those comments with a pinch of salt for now.

Tavernier HAS turned out for preseason, so he is definitely not Glen Kamara AWOL, but as we said before, Antonio Colak even went to the German camp last summer before saying his goodbyes.

And he wasn’t featured, of course, in any of the new kit promotional material, aside the video of its unveil – the actual publicity shots modelling the kit excluded him for the first time in years.

And then last night all the chaos with the captaincy and who the heck actually has it for the new season.

So where we are with this we’re not quite sure – the rumours are strong, probably stronger than they have ever been.

And we’ll know reasonably soon if James Tavernier is to remain a Rangers player or not.
