There has been a massive twist for season 24/25 after Ibrox was confirmed as unavailable for at least a month at the start of the campaign after shipments of materials for the cantilever project during the Copland Road upgrade got massively delayed and it was confirmed the club will have find elsewhere to open the new season.
In a delay described as ‘embarrassing’ by club chiefs, it’s been reported that chairman John Bennett is fuming by this after repeatedly seeking assurances this was not going to happen, only to be let down badly.
Now Rangers will have to play at either Hampden or Murrayfield (if feasible) for at least four weeks (if not more) affecting the start of the season and of course Champions League qualifiers.
It is, literally, a shambles, and the club is beyond apoplectic that it’s happened, and that the ‘Ibrox Factor’ will not be there for the start of the season.
It is a giant blow, and now Rangers will not have Ibrox home advantage, with manager Philippe Clement having to negotiate a difficult transfer window and now this to contend with as well.
This is a developing and breaking story, but goodness, this is a really, really big shocker from Govan.
More as we get it.
