Shock theory emerges about Lundstram’s Rangers red card

Was it just us, and we can confirm we’ve engaged with other Rangers fans who agree, that John Lundstram almost deliberately hijacked yesterday’s Old Firm loss with what almost looked like a purposeful own goal then a deliberate red card?

This is, of course, not scientific and completely speculative – the only one who knows the truth is Lundstram himself, and we’d hate to think an honest man like him would ever do anything as tragic as this, but there’s no denying Lundstram’s Rangers stock has crashed the past two months and he’s been nowhere.

He is 100% leaving this summer, in circumstances which now look a bit unsavoury, sadly, which is such a shame because until this contract nonsense got serious, fans loved the man, whose heart was in Glasgow with Rangers.

He gave everything he had.

But then yesterday has happened – first an appalling, ridiculous, senseless own goal, then an even more senseless and tragic red card which looked completely deliberate.

We absolutely hate to think any of this was actually on purpose, why would he want to let down his team mates like this?

But we will admit his relationship with the manager has clearly crashed – Clement is evidently not happy that he wants a higher wage and longer contract, and that the club can’t afford him. We sense the manager believes Lundstram is pricing himself out of a deal at the club.

And he’s far from happy with that. Hence Clement has been extremely transparent about the negotiations, surprisingly so.

So would the ex-Sheffield mid do this purely to hurt the boss?

We don’t know. We don’t see him as that kind of player at all, but we have no explanation for, at very least, the absurd red card which he didn’t need to sustain, and which gave his side absolutely no chance thereafter.

His relationship with fans has also crashed – he blocks all fans on social media from commenting on his posts, showing he has no interest in engagement, and supporters’ previous love for him has disappeared too, with few-to-none endorsing him staying.

And yesterday was certainly his final appearance for the club, for the simple reason he’s banned for two league matches.

The angry fans raging that he ‘should never’ play for the club again forget that he is now suspended for the rest of the season and will then leave. Little bit emotion from some fan groups who should maybe know better.

But as for him doing it deliberately?

Only he knows.
