Rangers have been, laughably, hit by a new injury blow after striker Cyriel Dessers tore ankle ligaments v Celtic and will potentially miss the next 4+ months.

The hitman, a controversial figure in his maiden season at Ibrox, was having a pretty strong first half at Hampden, but had to be removed at half time for Abdallah Sima having ruptured his ankle, and is likely to miss the start of next season up till potentially September.

It now takes the decision of signing a quality striker out of Philippe Clement’s ‘hands’ and makes it absolutely necessary, because Rangers cannot go into the new season with the still-unfit Danilo as the only potential option up front.

Indeed, Rangers, at present, will have no single fit striker going into the new campaign, with Fabio Silva departing back to Wolves, and both Danilo and Dessers unfit and unavailable for the foreseeable future.

And it means all current Rangers strikers are unavailable at present for preseason, which, obviously, forces that Rangers MUST sign at least two new quality 9s for the new season, which, of course, we technically already knew, but now has become imperative.

As for Dessers, he didn’t deserve this misfortune – he’s given all he has, even if he’s made a bit of a gaffe now and then in the press, but the stuff on the pitch… well he’s left everything out there.

And he was the one reliable forward Rangers had in terms of fitness – well, that’s done now, and at present Rangers have zero strikers or even forwards fit.

Must be said, while preseason couldn’t have come quicker, we’re not sure it’s actually helping that much already!

Here’s hoping a massive overhaul happens and we do have a quality squad for going into the Champions League qualifiers in July.
