So that’s officially that, the season is done, and Rangers, predictably, went out with a whimper, a 3-3 at Hearts punctuating just how badly the bottom fell off for the Govan giants.

It also gives some desperate idea of how far ahead Celtic are now that they became the first Old Firm side to ever win all 5 split fixtures when something was riding on it.

That’s new, and Rangers’ own record during the Split was W3 L1 D1.

Which means Rangers’ final 10 SPL matches read:

W4, D3, L3.

This is absolutely pathetic, and has us fourth in the SPL for the Split, only Dundee and St Mirren were worse than us during the final five.

It’s in fact equal to the horrific Caixinha season final 10 matches, and that’s a shocking place for any modern Rangers regime to go to.

Just like back in those days, many of the fans blame the players, and, just like today, the manager gets a tribalistic backing, a ‘he can do no wrong’ type defence from many of the fans, and if these fans thought Pedro was the right guy back then, we don’t trust their judgement today any better.

Too few fans have learned much from the past.

And so it goes, that a disastrous season unless a League Cup avoiding Celtic is compensation for you, is over, bar the Scottish Cup final.

We hold very little hope of securing that one with this current squad or this manager – none of it is very easy to have faith in.

It’s completely miserable and we admit we have absolutely zero optimism for this ever changing.

There would need to be a miracle this summer.

We absolutely screwed up after 55, we really did. The chance was there to build on that, but we obsessed over club crests and selling badges instead.

And now look at us.

Fantastic stuff.
