The injury to Cyriel Dessers and the ongoing concerns over Danilo and the imminent exit of the tragically-poor Fabio Silva mean that Rangers absolutely, case-critical MUST sign a striker this summer.

Frankly, they must sign at least two, and while they won’t be cheap, Ibrox Noise absolutely endorses the additions of both Lawrence Shankland AND Bojan Miovski.

The fact is Rangers need quality up front, and these two are the best of the bunch in the Scottish Premiership, and at least one them is one of us and knows what Rangers are all about.

And Miovski is just a talented and very capable striker in the Premiership who has done it against Rangers already, as has his Hearts counterpart.

Cost?

Shankland is in the last year of his deal now, with his exit confirmed from Hearts at the very latest of next summer, meaning he just won’t cost the earth at his age. He could cost as little as £2.5M if not less with perhaps an addon or two.

Miovski is slightly trickier – Head of Sport NewsQuest Scotland and ‘former’ Hibs fan Johnny McFarlane somehow managed to spin everyone’s head into believing the striker will cost Rangers £8M, but the reality is he won’t. His market value according to transfermarkt (who aren’t a million miles off) is around £2M.

Aberdeen will definitely want more, given he’s got two years left on his deal. but not a colossal amount more. Think Lewis Ferguson. He only cost Bologna £3M and Miovski is older than Ferguson was.

Reality?

Rangers could get the pair of them for around £6M-£7M total. Not a shocker of an amount.

But we have to actually want them, and we have doubts about that part with this club’s previous for overlooking the best players in our division who are clearly primed for the move to Govan.

But that would be a strong, strong pool of strikers next season if we did bring them both in – Dessers, Danilo, Shankland and Miovski.

Are they world class Champions League level? No, probably not, but that’s not our target, not yet.

Our target is winning the league, and that group of strikers wouldn’t hurt in pursuit of that.
