It goes without saying that barring a staggering miracle for Rangers over the final two fixtures, Celtic have, unfortunately, won the league this season.
And the implications here are gigantic, because once again, Rangers have gifted Celtic the title and left ourselves a mountain to climb to get into the Champions League.
Yes, let’s not forget this nightmare, the worst-case scenario, of missing out AGAIN on that lucrative automatic group spot, and it’s even worse this year:
Rangers now face, barring that incredibly unlikely miracle, two rounds of qualifiers again, against teams a massive hike up from the Europa League dross we’ve been facing, and the worst part of all?
Fail to make it and we lose out on the mind-bending pot of cash which is 30% up thanks to massively-increased prize pot not to mention extra home match in the new format.
That’s right, did we forget this is the new format Champions League next season, which rewards participation more than it ever has?
So we’ve gifted literally £60M off the bat to Celtic by choking our SPL lines so woefully the past two months, and while we’ve not 100% lost out on the same cash, we’ve given ourselves a mountain to climb to secure the same amount.
It’s an absolute choker, an absolute killer, that Celtic, thanks to all our work of the past in Europe, have now benefited to insane financial levels for doing… absolutely nothing.
£30M-£40M in recent seasons gifted to them and now £60M this season.
It’s a stinker, and certainly doesn’t help Rangers ‘catch up’ with them.
So unless we get the miracle and Celtic now choke the league, it’s the qualifiers for us and no guarantee of group stage.
Yeah, not the best end to the season, this, is it?
