With the release and promotional material of any new Rangers kit, it is a 100% guarantee that club captain James Tavernier, present in pretty much every release for the best part of 5 years, is a huge face on the endorsement content of the new shirt regalia.
Not this season.
Rangers fans’ tongues are wagging after Tavernier’s conspicuous absence from all away kit content and promotional material, along with fellow normally-ever-present buddy Connor Goldson, fuelling the fire of a potential exit for both players with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq strongly-linked.
Indeed, his notable omission from this content struck many fans as very, very noticeable, with Dujon Sterling’s presence very interesting alongside Ridvan Yilmaz and Ross McCausland which could promote strong positions for those three players, all of whom are below 25 years of age.
Does it really mean Tav is out?
We don’t know, but there are strong, strong rumours that his Rangers time is coming to an end, with Gerrard’s Saudi giants looking at him and vice-captain Goldson strongly.
Rangers need Rangers-level players, neither of whom are such things, and while we don’t allege Jefte is, the window is young to say the least.
Rangers need a change of guard and these two need to be part of the departures, with still just Borna Barisic officially confirmed as exiting.
The kit launch may have given major clues as to who is joining him.
