Reports from Africa claim Rangers are closing in on Ferencváros’ Malian winger Adama Traoré, who Ibrox Noise brought to you some weeks ago.
The right winger, 28, has an incredible European record, with 3 goals and assists in 6 in the Champions League, and an astonishing 11 in 16 in the qualifiers, which we detailed before.
There is no question the boy is a talent, and if Rangers are looking for a winger who has done it at the highest levels for a ‘must win’ club, then the Hungarian giants must be well up there, along with Romanians Sheriff Tiraspol.
His contract expires next summer, meaning Rangers wouldn’t be spending a massive fortune on his signature, with his market value in the £5M range, meaning amortisation would get it down closer to £3M or so.
Of course, he’s not the Spanish superstar Adama Traore, but he’s actually got a better record at higher levels than the ex-Wolves man, so this is a talent Rangers are actually quite shrewd to be moving in on.
100 goals and assists in 199 is a tiny fraction above a one in two career record, and it’s impressive for sure.
Whether he’s quite the ghost of Laudrup we’re not so sure, but one thing is for certain – the lad is gigantically above the likes of Matondo (who we do like a lot), McCausland and Wright that it’s not even funny.
Oscar Cortes on the left and Traore right? That might just work.
