Major problems growing for Rangers in the transfer window

Rangers may be in a spot of bother this window, if events of the past few days are anything to go by.

On the day we are being linked with yet more South American nobodies (Thomas Galdames is the latest) there is a real sense Rangers are trying to shoot fish in the barrel and are struggling to bring in the level of player we’re going to need.

The bottom line is Rangers have no money, no Champions League carrot, a manager with no draw, and the Premiership, which no one cares about.

Celtic have guaranteed their £70M, they’re champions with the Scottish Cup as well, and they’ve got group spot of the Champions League to offer players, as well as silverware.

Unfortunately, losing out on both the league and cup are proving massively massively costly for our club, and it’s less playing catch up more trying to stem the bleeding of how far ahead of us Celtic will go.

Jose Cordoba was the big clue – he was creaming himself to pick Norwich and the Championship over Rangers, with a medical literally booked in Glasgow reluctantly, only for managerless Canaries to come back in and his backside happily off to the Championship.

‘Ambitionless’ Rangers fans say? What, picking a club vying for promotion to the world’s most lucrative league over one in a dead league and with a low chance of getting to the Champions League for a lower wage?

Rangers, sadly, right now, have nothing to attract players with, not good players anyway.

We haven’t got the financial muscle, we haven’t got the league carrot, we haven’t got UCL (for sure) and we don’t win much.

This is why the best we can hope for is incredibly shrewd work in the window with untapped gems, and a manager who suddenly has the genius hand to make champions of them.

Because unfortunately, Erling Haaland ain’t coming here any time soon.
