A solution for the Sam Lammers problem of his excellent displays at Utrecht but the club’s lack of financial muscle to pay for the on-loan Rangers striker has been found as AZ Alkmaar seek to invest £5M in the hitman and cover his wages.
AZ look resigned to losing their star striker Vangelis Pavlidis for massive cash this summer and they need to replace him, and word is they are interested in £20,000pw Lammers with his goal haul from Utrecht as the man for the job.
He won’t be pennies, and while Rangers are not going to get his former £8M market value that Atalanta paid, they will 100% profit on him with Dutch clubs all seeking his lucrative signature.
The problem here is like Utrecht, AZ do have a budget window and salary cap, and their top paid player is said to be only at £13,000pw – and it’s not Pavlidis.
So to secure Lammers they’ll have to break that structure, just like Utrecht would – but the transfer fee itself is something AZ won’t have a problem with.
As for Lammers:
“I still have to contact the people at Rangers. That will happen as soon as the season is over. If I had spent the last few months focusing on where I will be playing next season, I really wouldn’t have scored goals so easily. I have had a lot of questions about my future in recent weeks. To be honest, I am not concerned with that at all right now and I want to enjoy this moment. I just want to achieve European football for the club. When I came to Utrecht we also said that the goal was to achieve European football, which is now very close.”
Thinks a lot of himself, always did – blamed Rangers for his being so poor at the club, and didn’t take on any responsibility.
No words of wisdom on why he stunk at PSV, Atalanta, Eintracht or anywhere else either…
If Rangers can just get this guy off our books and get £5M into the bargain, we will be very, very happy with that thank you.
