So it’s officially the season-ending Scottish Cup final this weekend, and it’s safe to say Rangers fans’ optimism isn’t terribly high, even if an Ibrox Noise poll yielded a result of 96% of fans believing we’ll win. In truth, who could pick the word ‘Celtic’ in a poll like that?

Being serious the crucial point is Philippe Clement has absolutely threadbare resources to pick from at Mount Florida, so Ibrox Noise will offer two team selections.

The one we WOULD choose, and the one we think he WILL choose.

Would:

Of the resources definitely available:

Butland; Tavernier, King, Davies, Ridvan; Sterling, Diomande; Cantwell; McCausland, Sima; Dessers

Wings are absolutely horrendous, so is defence. We wouldn’t pick Silva if our lives depended on it, we’ve gone with not-even-properly-fit Sima instead. Same with McCausland – he’s absysmal, but it’s him, Silva or Wright. No options.

What do we think Clement WILL go with?

Butland; Tavernier, King, Davies, Sterling; Raskin, Diomande; Cantwell; Silva, McCausland; Dessers

Neither side are great, far from it indeed.

Neither of them has enough to beat Celtic, simple as that. Aside Clement’s poor management and the injuries, the quality of player available just isn’t high enough, and add to that the horrific injury selection; a team with Leon King and Sterling as LB isn’t up to the task of beating Celtic.

It’s absolutely dreadful, and despite Clement’s managerial shambles of the past 2+ months, the players most definitely aren’t there.

The only dilemma – could he bring Lundstram back for this one?

We don’t think he will.

Verdict?

If we pick up this silverware Ibrox Noise (and quite a few other Rangers fans we’re sure) will be literally astonished.

Maybe we’ll get some big returning players to change the whole complexion, who knows.
