It appears Ibrox Noise’s dubiety over the Jose Cordoba situation was correct, and the Panama defender simply doesn’t want to come to Rangers, and following Norwich re-entering the race to sign him last night, the Levski Sofia stopper will now get his first choice after all.

It had been reported the 22-year-old stopper was booked in for a medical, and that may well have been the case, but Norwich returned to the table, and that was what the South American wanted and it appears he will reject Rangers for Carrow Road.

Indeed, this was reported by a very respected and generally accurate French journalist Nabil Djellit, who described Cordoba as the ‘best defender in the Bulgarian championship’ whose transfer to Norwich is ‘very close’.

So that appears to be that, dead in the water.

And that’s going to happen a lot this window, players will ‘change their minds’ a lot, although in this case Cordoba didn’t change his mind, he just didn’t want to come to Scotland, to Rangers, and preferred the Championship.

Rangers fans have been raging at this and whining at his lack of ambition, and while Rangers are a much bigger club than Norwich (albeit same number of followers on social media) and can offer Europe, most players will choose the Championship where they can because it’s a much much better league.

And of course leads to the Promised Land of the Premier League, as Joe Aribo and Glen Kamara know only too well.

But yes, it seems Rangers have lost out on Cordoba, but many have also argued his YouTube videos (such a reliable source) make him look gangly, awkward and not particularly strong.

If that’s the case, why were we looking at him?

But Djellit seems to think he was the best defender in Bulgaria, albeit we’re not sure on what basis he says that, and that accolade has earned him Championship Norwich.

It appears this one is done.

We still desperately need new defenders.
