So, shall we talk about miracles?
Rangers currently sit 6 points behind Celtic, and down by 7 goals. It’s a fair old distance.
But let’s not forget Rangers face Dundee tonight in what is absolutely the last throw of the dice for any slim hope Rangers have of winning the league.
In simple terms, Rangers have to beat Dundee by a drubbing, around 5-8 goals at least, to obviously get the three points, and overturn the goal difference.
Because, we cannot forget, Celtic must travel to bogey ground Rugby Park and get the win, on a surface which has not been kind to them.
Now, while Killie themselves have nothing per se to play for, in that they’ve secured fourth place for sure and can’t grab third, they still could have a huge bearing on where the title goes.
And let’s be clear, Derek McInnes may have had his issues with Pedro Caixinha in the past as Aberdeen manager, but he’s shed most of his ‘professional’ bias caused by that employment and has returned to being much more of a Rangers man again in Ayrshire.
He would LOVE to secure the three points v Celtic, just to beat Celtic, and of course, give Rangers a fighting chance of actually pulling off the near impossible.
That would then leave Celtic needing that point v St Mirren, who are unlikely to push them hard, but then we said that about Motherwell on Helicopter Sunday didn’t we?
While we accept Celtic have 9 fingers on the title, there is still a faint glimmer of chance, of hope, and it begins by Rangers drubbing Dundee.
We must at least do our part – if we can’t put 5+ past Dundee, then it really is game over, because we’re not going to tank Hearts on the final day.
So let’s at least make Celtic win the damn thing, rather than choking ourselves AGAIN by failing to put a bunch of goals past Dundee’s net – it’s slim chance, it’s low likelihood but if Rangers can’t gub Dundee then we don’t really know what else to say.
At least give it a go?
