Ryan Lowe is the latest name to emerge as Rangers manager candidate with claims made in the press that CEO James Bisgrove has made enquiries on his availability.
Currently the boss of Preston, who lie third in the Championship, Lowe, 45, has a solid record of promotion with both Bury and Preston. In League Two.
You’re probably now awaiting Ibrox Noise’s verdict on this story, and you won’t be surprised to hear we’ll find it very hard to support Ryan Lowe as Rangers manager.
A lower-league success, doing solidly in the Championship – if James Bisgrove thinks this is Rangers manager material, we might as well give up and go home.
Lowe is a reasonable enough boss at modest levels, but has absolutely no CV at any level of any meaning, and he’s only been a manager five years. To show genuine interest in him would be incompetence on a new level having learned nothing from the Michael Beale debacle, and would just be Beale mk 2.
Lowe has no bad reputation by any means, and we’re not character assassinating him, but this would just be reaping what you sow on an epic level.
We’ve learned a lot from Beale – that a manager who does decent in the Championship is nowhere near ready for Rangers, and while, sure, Lowe has been a manager 10x longer than Beale was when we brought him in, at just 45, and having won zero at any top-flight level, he’s 100% not the right man.
We really hope this is just fabricated media nonsense, because this is barely any better than John Eustace.
This would be yet another error by Rangers, and if this happens, we’ll probably take up basket weaving.
Or will the ‘give him a chance ffs’ crew shout us down again?
Personally I would rather have Rob Lowe, he would be a hit with our female supporters, but this geezer ??? Get him to fk
