Sources: injury shock as Nicolas Raskin a massive doubt for Rangers v Celtic
Looking a bit happier in the past....

A very heavy rumour has surfaced this evening suggesting Nicolas Raskin will not make tomorrow’s Old Firm semi-final, making Rangers’ already-tough task infinitely harder.

We are aware the Belgian youth international is carrying a knock, and we can confirm there is a massive doubt about him that won’t be completely assessed until early morning, which could mean a John Lundstram and Glen Kamara midfield in the centre for Rangers.

If the former Liege midfielder fails to make it tomorrow, it will call massively into question Michael Beale’s decision to risk him against Aberdeen, when while his performance was decent, his fitness was already a huge doubt as it was.

This is a very troubling development. Raskin has already missed 2 of a possible 8 matches, having been side-lined previously we understand with a thigh strain, and was a huge injury doubt going to Pittodrie.

It was pleasing to see his name on the team sheet, and he didn’t have a bad match, but going by these subsequent developments, it could well be a colossal risk which not only didn’t pay off at Aberdeen given the result, but could have cost Rangers a massive player for the latest ‘biggest match of the season’.

We must admit, while we suggested Glen Kamara for midfield in order to sell himself for a move this summer, if the Finn is selected and does look off the pace or have a bad match, it will be another one on the manager for risking Raskin.

Meanwhile John Lundstram evidently needs surgery on a knock he’s been carrying for months, and hasn’t been at his best for around about the same time. He needs a time out, meaning he and Kamara together in the centre would be very unlikely to fill Rangers supporters with hope.

Hopefully Raskin does defy the rumours and makes it for kick off because he and Todd Cantwell are about the only current players in the squad good enough for the club going forward, albeit we have time for Colak even if the manager does not.

We’ll find out come tomorrow around half 12 when the team is announced.
