There is a sense of stability at Ibrox, under Michael Beale and with the Rangers boss set to see his side lose out to Celtic in the title race, he will be more inclined to start early preparations for next season. There is quite some movement expected in and out of the team but the manager has remained tight-lipped on names, even though admitting that a few new faces will be part of preseason engagements.
Uncertainty
As Beale works on his playing unit, there is a lot of uncertainty over one player; Ryan Kent. Though he has scored just three goals this season, it goes without saying that Kent is a key player for the Glasgow giants. He has eight assists in the Premiership and the Englishman has attracted interest back in his homeland. Burnley, who have just secured promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, have been linked with the forward, whose contract comes to an end at the close of this season. It has been a bit frantic for Rangers as they try to convince him to sign up, with the allure of European football next season versus a return to the Premier League putting him in a tight spot.
Not faulted
The former Liverpool player, who moved in search of playtime is just one of the headaches Beale has to deal with as links towards the Premier League emerge. He will not be faulted for choosing a return to England, and in a league whose games crowd the list of the most popular betting sites in the world, previewed on Wincomparator with their top offers and bonuses. These include 1XBet’s signup bonus of up to €130, BetObet’s €100 and more.
Beale’s first interview as he took over at Ibrox will be most remembered for his declaration that no one’s position is safe at the team but Kent’s situation is really one that could get him desperate, seeing that the forward has on many occasions been central to his game plan. Acquired for £7m back then, Rangers would feel they have to get some monetary returns from his departure but that calls for a new deal, which may not be to Kent’s expectation.
It would also open up a new dimension if Kent was to be offered a new deal, as Alfredo Morelos, Allan McGregor, Steven Davis and Ryan Jack are also headed towards such contractual standoffs. For outsiders, releasing Kent could solve a number of issues in one go.
But ultimately, it’s the club’s decision and we can’t see these players all getting new contracts. Time will tell.
