Several sources have now confirm Turkish giants Galatasaray seek free agent Alfredo Morelos this summer as the Rangers striker’s contract winds down, while the Colombian waits on Sevilla surviving relegation.

The high-flying Super Lig side, currently heading comfortably towards their 23rd championship title and a guaranteed Champions League group spot, have recovered from the difficult days in recent years where their stock suffered and their finance was limited due to severe debt, and they are an attractive club for players to go to again.

Would Morelos want them? A half-decent plan B if the Sevilla route doesn’t work out, but Morelos still wants a top five league, even if Turkey, along with Holland and Portugal, is a pretty decent backup plan as a solid European top flight.

Galatasaray seek serious firepower this summer, for their attempt at the Champions League – they don’t want caught cold as Rangers were last year, and the league leaders are said to be looking at Morelos, Colombian comrade James Rodriguez, and Chile’s Alexis Sanchez.

In short, they want some serious quality up front, and at as low a cost as possible.

Morelos will continue to be linked with all sorts of clubs for an exit this summer, but this looks, finally, like the years where the Colombian says goodbye for good after years of speculation about his future.

The agreement with Sevilla is in place, but nothing will be signed until/unless they remain in LaLiga at the end of the season – Morelos would be thrilled with Spain’s top flight, even if it’s not the Premier League, but he has to wait for them to be safe first.

If not, he’s got guaranteed Champions League football with Galatasaray in Turkey if he picks that route.

Point is as a pre-contract, Morelos has all the options open to him, the power is his, and we’d be completely astounded (and disappointed) if Alfredo Morelos remains a Rangers player after this summer.

Be it Sevilla, Galatasaray or a new suitor, the chances of him staying at Ibrox are next to zero now. But hey, we said that about Connor Goldson too, so what do we know?
