Today’s new reports claiming Alfredo Morelos is talking to Galatasaray is no surprise – Michael Beale has confirmed the player is free to talk to anyone he wants, and the player himself has given no public indication at all he’s interested in signing a new deal at Ibrox.

In fact, it would be more surprising if Morelos wasn’t talking to anyone else, given he’s able to, and he clearly wants a new challenge in his career. He’s been at Ibrox for 7 years and frankly most of us are sick of him.

He might have earned some fickle goodwill with a portion of the fanbase thanks to his assist at the weekend, but it didn’t change the overall picture for the Colombian at Rangers.

No, Alfredo wants a new club, and ideally one of the top five, but he’d clearly also accept Holland, Turkey and Portugal as probably the biggest 3 leagues outside of the quintuplet of giant leagues.

Indeed, we all know how close Morelos was to joining Porto, his best mate Danny Candeias even confirmed it back in the day, so he’d not scoff at one of those leagues for sure.

But the latest word is indeed Turkey, and Galatasaray, who may have money issues these days but they’re still a big name and a free agent like Morelos would be perfect to them.

It is of course still in agent hands – it’s the agent who will meet with club representatives and express what his client wants and the reps will offer what their club is prepared to at that stage. All parties then report back to their bosses and both sides decide if there’s wiggle room and if this is something they want to pursue.

If Morelos likes what he hears, he will then meet the manager and they’ll have a chat – so if we start hearing he’s gone off to Turkey in this international break, we’ll know why.

End of the day, Sevilla were in prime position but Morelos is keeping his options open before he commits to the Spaniards. And that’s fine.

Do get the impression Rangers fans are utterly fed up with this saga now.
