Sky Sports have today confirmed Rangers and Michael Beale are in discussions to become new Ibrox manager, after Queens Park Rangers gave it the go-ahead and it was understood Beale is extremely keen to return to Govan.

Following a bright start to his fledgling managerial career at Loftus Road, Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers wanted a bit of a Beale sausage sandwich at Molineux with the former Liverpool youth and Rangers assistant as their replacement for Bruno Lage, but not even the lure of the Premier League could persuade him to leave Loftus Road and he stuck with QPR.

That interest caused a huge distraction at London Rangers though, and Beale’s eye was a little off the ball while his QPR players no longer had the same commitment to the cause with their manager’s head being turned.

Having been invited to Ibrox some time earlier to take in the Aberdeen match, many fans took that as a sign a move for the man was in the works to bring him home to Rangers, and at the time many were thrilled with the idea of Beale returning.

Unfortunately, with the results tailing off in the Championship since Wolves’ approach, some fans have cited that as evidence he’s not good enough to handle Rangers, when in reality nothing could be further from the truth.

And now Sky Sports have confirmed Rangers’ board has decided on its man and assuming the deal can be done and t’s scored and i’s dotted, Michael Beale will become the 18th manager of Rangers inside a few days at most.

He is up against it from a large portion of support who now think he’s the wrong man for Rangers, despite such clamour for him a few weeks ago, but it’s up to him to win them over with performances and results.

It’s getting closer to completion now, and it’s only a matter of time before Rangers secure their man and announce him. Then the real adventure at Ibrox begins as Beale starts to put his own stamp on the club and hopefully brings us back to winning ways again.
