The latest outrage from Rangers-hating media, and indeed some of our fans alike, is the reaction to striker Alfredo Morelos’ Instagram snap on holiday in Colombia as the former HJK man dares to enjoy himself on the club break.

Some are making claims about ‘shades of Celtic in Dubai’ as the hitman soaks up the sun with his missus, but this seems to be the new ‘rage age’ where anything at all is now capable of absolutely filling normal people with compete fury regardless of its merits or otherwise.

It’s true that Morelos’ form at Ibrox is absolute tripe, and he’s had an absolutely shocking 6+ months with injury and a very flat recovery. It’s true he will almost certainly move on in January if an even half-decent offer comes in.

But attacking a man for taking a consented holiday when a host of other players are too really does smack of rage for rage’s sake, as if because his form at Ibrox isn’t the best, he’s simply not allowed to enjoy himself, not allowed to have fun.

We’re not huge fans of el-bufalo on Ibrox Noise, never really have been, with regulars knowing we’ve been critical many times over the years of his personality and application or commitment to the club.

And sure, he could probably have been a bit more subtle about himself lapping it up in the sun, but how was he to know a simple selfie on holiday would fill the media and some Rangers fans with such utterly contempt that the response of most was ‘drive him to the airport’.

We’re not justifying his form – the guy clearly wants to leave and has been a paperweight this season, but that doesn’t mean he simply isn’t allowed to go on ‘vacation’.

We do agree he lacked a bit of tact there, and maybe shouldn’t have chucked a rather self-indulgent pic when Rangers fans are so unhappy with club form and results. But fans forget players often live on completely different planets, and are mostly as out of touch with supporters as the board are.

It’s the rare few who actually identify with the likes of us, like Lundstram, Jack and McGregor – but even these are very rich men who live different lives to Joe Punter? Morelos? He can’t even stand Scotland and has rarely ever had any major love for our club.

So how in touch do we expect a guy who can still barely speak English?

This whole thing is the usual – people angry for angry’s sake, but a little tact from these players in Ivory Towers wouldn’t go amiss either.
