Duff Rangers story sees three major Rangers groups with egg on their face

Three publications have been left with egg on their face after going forth with a Rangers exclusive about Tom Lawrence having had an injury setback, only for official Ibrox partner Heart & Hand to speak directly to the man & club and learn it wasn’t true.

Ibrox News, Rangers Review and Evening Times (particularly Chris Jack with an ‘exclusive’) all ran with a massive and sensational story that Lawrence was now looking at March before recovering from injury, only for Heart & Hand to get first-hand from the club and the player that the story was absolute fabrication.

The story has now been removed from the Evening Times and Rangers Review websites, but Ibrox News of course could care more about the clicks than the truth and has left the story online to mislead fans and get the traffic.

Chris Jack, who has recently been a massive mouthpiece for exclusive Rangers stories recently, is hardly known for journalistic integrity and certainly has his critics among the Ibrox fanbase to say the least, and proudly reported the story as an absolute exclusive, only for Heart & Hand to investigate themselves and learn the story was dud information.

This is the stuff that makes or breaks credibility, and while Jack may have some in the eyes of certain individuals, a duff story like this can really hurt.

Meanwhile Ibrox News, who we frequently get mistaken for on Ibrox Noise (we really love that, honestly…), happily continue with the story because they’re not run by Rangers fans, but just use our club and its name for clicks and traffic.

As for us, well yes, we will get the occasional thing wrong, because it’s part of getting information to the supporters as much as we do that now and then duff info will be part of that – but with us, it’s an honest error and never published to mislead.

We also hold our hands up to gaffes, which we think is the honest way to be.

But yes, the last thing Rangers fans right now need is misleading and false information remaining on air just to give a website attention.
