McCrorie and Ridvan start: predicted Rangers XI to face Dundee

Rangers could be set to make quite a few changes tonight with Dundee on the horizon, a match the home side are expected to win, and frankly fairly comfortably, the Championship side having an indifferent season in 4th in Scotland’s second tier.

But who do we see getting the action tonight?

In goal it’s either Robby McCrorie or Jon McLaughlin. With Allan McGregor restored to number one (despite his pretty rotten form) McLaughlin may be retaking his own cup slot, or perhaps it’s finally time to see McCrorie rewarded for his patience. We favour the latter.

In defence a change or two.

James Tavernier has been declared fit by Giovanni, despite doubts about his fitness raised by some training video which showed him looking uncomfortable, while James Sands, Leon King and Ben Davies vie for the central slots. We think Ridvan will start at the other side.

In midfield? Lundstram is likely to continue, but we think a slot beside him for Sands, who is a toss up between there and defence. He will want some minutes having been a fixture in the early part of the campaign.

Attack? Kemar Roofe is being hyped as fit now, so he will feature, we’re just not certain if it’s from the start, while Ryan Kent is certain to be ‘rested’. Scott Wright will probably expect some time having waited patiently this season, while Fashion Sakala and Rabbi Matondo are in contention too.

It comes too early for Alex Lowry, who is very very close but not quite there yet while Scott Arfield will probably be rested for this one. Malik Tillman is regaining form and will surely start.

Up front it will almost certainly be Alfredo Morelos.

So your Ibrox Noise XI to face Dundee:

McCrorie; Tavernier, King, Davies, Ridvan; Lundstram, Sands; Wright, Tillman, Roofe; Morelos

It’s hardly the strongest XI we’ve ever fielded but it should be enough to see off Dundee with everyone trying to impress.

End of the day, it’s the cup, and the visitors will be looking to spring a shock with a Rangers a bit off-form. Up to us to stop that happening.
