Unexplained absence as Rangers signing misses silence

Rangers players honoured the Queen’s passing today with a moment’s silence at Auchenhowie, but while coach Roy Makaay’s absence was due to his scouting Napoli for next week’s UCL group match (should it go ahead), there’s less explanation for John Souttar’s.

The summer signing was conspicuous by his absence from training today, with every other senior squad member in attendance and paying respects, but Souttar was nowhere to be seen.

We don’t know what exactly is wrong with him, with even Hagi, Davies, Roofe and Helander all there, but the former Hearts man was not there, and while the bereavement stories are obviously significant, that was quite a few weeks ago now.

Is it just the injury issues? If so, Hagi was there and he’s half a year away from return.

We don’t want to be attacking Rangers players on this of all days, but we do just wonder why he was the only one absent.

We hope John Souttar is ok and had full club permission not to be there.
