For anyone wondering how Leon Balogun’s new side QPR are doing since the Nigerian international joined them, it’s very telling to learn that Michael Beale’s men are unbeaten and with clean sheets in all matches Balogun started.

A win away at midtable Millwall and a solid draw with Stoke with no goals shipped and those two are the first time this season QPR have kept the zero.

Meanwhile, Rangers haven’t had a shut out since beating Ross County last month.

A mistake letting him go?

We at Ibrox Noise are divided on this – we agree his injuries were a concern, and he spent a tonne of time on the treatment table, but when it came to raw defending, alongside Fil Helander he was the best in the entire league by some distance.

He was lightning quick, he was big, strong, and he was flexible, and the more we watch our defence repeatedly ship goals the more we realise the club’s decision was wrong.

That Gio’s call was wrong.

Balogun is a truly excellent defender who was comfortable at every level he played – he is capable of being a PL defender if he could stay fit longer, but there’s no denying his class.

Beale got himself a hell of a stopper, and two clean sheets in two starts from Balogun show exactly what Rangers let go.

  1. If he racks up 30+ appearances by the end of the season then it was definitely a mistake letting him go. The coaching staff obviously thought he wasn’t worth the risk. However, serious mistakes made with his replacement(s)!

  2. Agree Balogun did have injuries unlike that wretch Goldson who doesn’t put himself in the way/front of anything . Bad mistake especially given our current situation ,.
