Alfredo Morelos has responded to being dropped with a defiant message of intent, via his Instagram.
The Colombian has rarely ever said exactly what he means, opting instead of attention-seeking cryptic notes, but this one was pretty clear:
“The best warrior is not the one who always triumphs but the one who returns without fear to the battle.”
This looks like a message of defiance, a hint of ‘you’ve dropped me, but I’ll be back’.
Not that it matters what Morelos thinks or says now, he’s taken the decision and his own Rangers future out of his hands, and is in all likelihood to be sold.
This whole situation is very much echoes of Celtic’s Dembele, who made it clear he wanted to leave, and while Celtic rejected it, they relented at the 11th hour and sold him for £20M.
Rangers have cast Morelos out, and he appears to be taking a gentle pot shot at the club and the decision.
It’s certainly defiant, ‘I get knocked down, but I get up again’ – it is far from any sense of contrition or apology for his demotion nor even any hint of apology for the reasons for it.
Either way, this remains a distraction we don’t need, and indeed, Morelos responding like this is just yet more deflection away from what matters.
He’s not really doing himself any favours.
I hope we have a replacement in the pipeline. I know he scores goals but not a crazy amount. At this level it should be relatively easy for a Rangers striker to match or better his scoring rate. Personally I’d rather see a pacy striker to play off Colak. If we get can sell Morelos and get enough money to sign his replacement I’d take that. We need to move the circus on.
I,am glad morelos is not playing, he’s a danger to the club & to himself. Best get rid & move on with Gio 🇬🇧
