Giovanni van Bronckhorst is ‘hopeful’ that Ryan Kent can be available for Tuesday night but sadly the Rangers winger is reported to have suffered a metatarsal fracture, which is especially intense for a player in his position.

The left flanker has been notably missed the last couple of games, his pace, movement and all-round trickery being a major boon when he’s available, and the lack of them noticeable against Union and to an extent Killie.

And it’s very much touch and go over whether he’ll make the return leg, but we can do little more than simply wait and hope.

Malik Tillman deputised alongside Tom Lawrence well enough yesterday at Ibrox, and while they weren’t fantastic, they were good enough, particularly the American, to cover for Kent up against Killie.

But Union is a different story.

As things stand we need two goals to at least take it beyond 90 minutes, and without Kent in the side that task is made a little more difficult.

Rangers are strong at home though, in Europe, as is Gio, and Ibrox is a fortress at this level.

But you want all your best players and we really hope Kent makes it.
