We’ve babbled a bit about the return of Jordan Jones and Derek McInnes to Ibrox in their new(er) roles at Killie, but more importantly, what of Rangers?

How the hosts set up tomorrow is hugely significant and we expect quite a few changes from Tuesday’s shambles in Belgium.

We don’t know what to expect in goal. Jon McLaughlin is not good enough, but Allan McGregor is hardly one for the future. Robby McCrorie is unlikely to be offered any kind of chance. We hope it’s not McLaughlin between the sticks.

In defence, we expect wholesale changes.

Tav and Goldson is hardly worth mentioning, but Souttar/Sands and Barisic will all be gone, and Ben Davies and Ridvan Yilmaz are both likely to start.

In midfield, Lundstram will take his usual place, and while he doesn’t play very well alongside Steven Davis, we’d pick him to start over both Jack and Kamara given both are either off the pace or not working hard enough.

Attack?

On the left Kent will start if fit enough, and we pray he is. On the right Matondo may get a chance to shine again, given how badly he failed to in midweek, while in the middle it’s Tillman or Arfield. There is huge scope for either a start or a big role for Scotty in here too. Unless he pairs with Lundstram and Davis which changes things…

Up front it’ll be Colak because Saturday clearly comes too soon for Alfredo Morelos.

McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Yilmaz; Lundstram, Davis, Arfield; Kent, Colak, Matondo

Gio has been messing around with the formation this season, with a lot less 4-2-3-1 these days and more 4-3-3 with 3-5-2 at times. So figuring out the shape isn’t the easiest these days.

But we need a reliable XI which delivers, and we think this would.

It’s almost certainly wildly wrong.
