Ibrox Noise was very interested to see how Erik Botheim did last night, for his league debut v Roma for Salernitana.
Bear in mind Botheim rejected Rangers and chose the Italian side instead, and Rangers opted ourselves for Antonio Colak.
Colak, of course, has 3 goals in the last 3, making the £2M investment in him look worthwhile, but what of the man we lost out on?
Well he’s yet to score a goal, and last night, despite the home side having all the possession, he didn’t manage a shot either.
He only got 14 touches of the ball, the lowest by far of any starter, and while he’s still got his career ahead of him, it’s been a slow start in Italy for the Norwegian.
Of course, his countryman Haaland didn’t have the best match v Bournemouth, following up on the dodgy performance v Liverpool in the Shield, but he did singlehandedly end West Ham so…
And then there’s our man Colak.
3 in 3 in all competitions for the last trio of matches in a row, 8 shots, 3 on target.
He’s definitely in form, and while it’s early days, Rangers look like we’ve got quite a talent with the Croat. Which is not to say Botheim is a dud, because we did want him – but we back the men who want us, and Colak sure did.
And we’re reaping those rewards now.
