Conspiracies about John Souttar may have been a massive fabrication after Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirmed the lad is injured and is being assessed.

Online claims were rife the past two weeks after a Twitter account claimed the defender had had a bereavement, but this is looking wide of the mark after Gio’s latest injury update on the former Hearts man:

“John also has a problem so we are assessing him.”

This was following comments about Ryan Kent’s injury hinting he could well be back this weekend.

We’re sure whoever inspired the bereavement story was acting in good faith on information they had been told, but it appears to have been totally false, and this is why Ibrox Noise only explained the rumour surrounding him but refused to endorse or justify it.

Indeed, it just seems the Hearts man is struggling with the jersey and injury, which of course has been a career problem going back years for him.

Souttar is a likeable guy and we wish him the absolute best – the reaction of fans after Livingston was harsh at best and downright horrible at worst, before the rumours of bereavement started doing the rounds.

In fairness, it took a bit of heat off the lad, albeit he would never have wanted that.

Regardless of any bereavements or injuries, we hope he gets over his early struggles in the Light Blue and goes on to be a fine player for the Famous.

  1. It’s crazy to say that he is struggling this early in the season when he is still to achieve full fitness and getting to know his new team mates. Give him a chance to settle and I’m sure he will be fine.

  2. Surprise surprise that he is injured, half the players we sign are already a sick note, I’m sorry but our scouts and our physios must do much much better, fed fucking up with is buying these players that nobody else would touch with a barge pole, should be P45’s all round in Rangers, its fucking disgraceful
