After Rangers’ incredibly poor start to the season which has seen just one half-decent 45 minutes of football of a possible four, Gio is set to restore a bit of order to proceedings with the earlier-than-expected return of Alfredo Morelos, and the likely restoration of fit-again Ryan Kent, coupled with a bigger role for Scott Arfield and a possible return for Allan McGregor.

The manager is deeply disappointed with the opening of the season, and while a lot of the rustiness can be attributed to new players trying to bed in, there’s the clear problem of a glut of players who are currently not up to the levels needed (Jack, McLaughlin, Sands, Barisic), while others are evidently not trying (Kamara).

It adds to wholesale changes needed, because the new breed are not yet working well enough to be trustworthy, while some current selections leave a lot to be desired.

Rangers host Kilmarnock on Saturday with a turbo-charged Jordan Jones who will be determined to prove Steven Gerrard was wrong about him, so expect visitors up for the fight all right, so if Rangers aren’t at their 100% best, it could be a long afternoon.

McGregor, Morelos, Kent and Arfield?

We can rely on these guys to perform, and they are all big-time players, and while Morelos is not exactly match-fit, his current state would still bring a lot more to Rangers’ performances than we are currently getting.

We know the chances of Kent and Morelos being fit enough to play are 50/50 in both cases, but McGregor and Arfield are 100% ready to go and may be deployed to restore a bit of order to the unacceptable start made this season.

Hopefully it starts feeling a bit better soon.

  1. Yeah, I’d switch Kamara and Jack for Davis and Arfield and definitely bring back McGregor for now. I still trust Colak to come good and would rather Morelos was kept for Tuesday maybe getting the last 15-20 mins on Saturday. I wish Gio and Ross Wilson would identify a good international keeper and get the board to part with some more funds. Take the first good offer for Kamara and buy in a playmaker. Should have spent the budget on Veerman last season when we had the chance.
