Steven Gerrard’s bizarre mismanagement Umar Sadiq looks all the more ridiculous with every passing new story confirming the Nigerian’s rise to the very top of football.

Not only is he now a fully-fledged international for his country (he’s scored for them), but after gaining a pricetag of around £30M for Almeria, he’s now a fully-fledged La Liga player following their promotion to Spain’s top flight.

Not only that, but he’s to move to Villarreal for that fee, meaning he will be by some distance the most successful failure Rangers have ever had.

He was no failure at Ibrox really – Steven Gerrard just didn’t like him, and fan support of the manager sided with him and mocked the former Partizan hitman.

And at every club Sadiq has been at, before and since Rangers, he’s thrived at.

It’s quite simply one Gerrard, like he did many others, got crazy wrong, and we suspect a bit of a personality clash played a role too.

Sadiq will complete his move to Villarreal with career stats of 123 goals in 237 appearances.

It’s no wonder he’s worth £30M+.

  1. Fair play to the guy in turning his career around but I didn’t see a player there and most people agreed. I don’t recall too many fans complaining when he was moved on.
