Fashion Sakala’s Rangers career looks to be under serious threat after reports confirmed Vincent Kompany’s Burnley are to bid a £3M+ package for the Zambian.

His recent interview isn’t thought to have gone down well at all with Giovanni van Bronckhorst or the general Rangers hierarchy, and the Belgian is interested in bringing him south to the Championship side in their push for promotion back to the PL.

Sakala has become a bit of a maligned figure in the past few months, given his hit and miss appearances, and it’s become pretty clear he’s not seen as a first pick but as a utility sub.

And of course, his interview complaining about his situation didn’t help matters, so he may well find himself even further down the pecking order as a result.

As for Kompany himself, he confirmed he is actively in the market for new players, but the name of Rangers’ Zambian forward didn’t actually come up, and that was earlier today.

This could mean Sakala’s agent is trying to drum up interest in his client, which is entirely possible, but it is certainly clear the hitman isn’t happy at Rangers, despite lip service to that effect.

He thought he’d be a striker, and he’s been rejected on that front. And he’s not shy about saying so.

The Sakala signing hasn’t really worked out.

  2. Sakala is a hugely frustrating player but his numbers are not too bad. £3m sounds like a result but if he’s to stay then surely Roy Makaay can coach him to be a bit smarter on the pitch.
