As we reported some weeks ago, Joe Aribo is certain to leave Rangers this window (albeit in football these days, so was Connor Goldson…) and the latest side to enter the fray for signing him are Southampton.

As things stand, it’s the Saints, Palace, Villa, Forest, Fulham and Brentford who have all been whispered in relation to the playmaker, but information suggests Aribo planned to have left already, only for some preferred destinations to fall through.

This is why he wasn’t especially interested in negotiating last year, and considers his Rangers race run.

He recently claimed he was happy at Rangers and had no intention of leaving, but since those quotes were delivered things appear to have changed.

And that’s ok, Aribo, like Morelos and a few others, has given Rangers plenty and if he feels it’s now time to leave and go home, we’re alright with that.

Rangers are looking to get around £10M for the ex-Charlton man, with this being the last year of his contract.

His quotes since the one mentioned earlier were infinitely less assured about staying at Rangers and avoided the topic entirely, except to praise ex-manager Steven Gerrard.

Aribo’s Rangers race is surely run, it’s just a matter of getting a deal sorted.
